Meditation benefits physical and mental health in many ways helping you to think better, feel happier, and live longer.
Anxiety is a psychological condition that comes in many forms like panic attacks, anxiety attacks, phobia, social anxiety etc causing distress that interferes with your ability to lead a normal life and could cause serious mental illness. All mental activity has a physical correlation in the brain. Chronic worries for example really affect the area of the brain associated with regulating emotions, including fear. Fear is a negative emotion, unless you’re facing an actual threat. All of us during our lifetime have stressful events that can produce short-term anxiety in almost everyone disappearing right after the scary event is gone, but for many people anxiety is an uncontrollable chronic condition.
Meditation helps by quieting the overactive mind not only dealing with anxiety and stress, but actually changing the structure and function of the brain to make it healthier and function much better.
Researchers from Harvard found that mindfulness can physically reduce the number of neurons in this fear-triggering part of the brain.
Mindfulness meditation is one of many styles of meditation.
But what exactly is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. When you train your brain to be mindful, you’re actually remodelling the physical structure of your brain.
Personally I totally love this type of meditation…
