Berries for Health and Beauty

There is no secret about the incredible benefits that berries have for our body, from fighting cancer, reduce cholesterol levels, to helping prevent diabetes, and of course when it comes to beauty these lovelies got some real magic going on!  That is why many natural beauty companies are using these yummy fruits in their products  to ease wrinkles, fight sun damage, age spots etc.

High in vitamin C and very low in calories Berries contain:

Anthocyanin the pigment responsible for the deep red, purple, and blue colours, powerful antioxidant that helps mitigate damage from free radicals on the skin. But most importantly is the one slowing tumour growth. Found in blackberries, blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, and strawberries.

Ellagic acid this natural antioxidant protects skin from sun damage and hinders the formation of an enzyme that breaks down elastin and collagen in the skin. This combination its a bomb against wrinkles. Found in blackberries, cranberries, raspberries, and strawberries.

Vitamin C the component that hydrates the skin increasing collagen and elastin levels.

So to get to the point, berries make you GLOW and definitely younger =)

Since almost all fruits are high in sugar, and of course we can’t really eat these yum all day long and throw all of our workout sweat out the window I recommend eating a little portion of ORGANIC berries just once a day at breakfast or snack.

Here are some DIY treatments

Strawberry Mask For Oily Skin

The acid of Strawberries helps neutralise excess sebum, cleans the pores and normalises the activity of the sebaceous glands besides exfoliating your skin, therefore is great for oil problem skin and is anti ageing. You can add some organic honey as well for its anti inflammatory and anti bacterial properties.

2 large strawberries

1 tsp of honey

Make a pure of the strawberries with a fork, put the honey in a small glass bowl and let it sit over hot water until it melts.

Mix the ingredients and apply to the face, after the first layer has dried apply a second layer and so on, when you have all the mask on your face leave it for 30 minutes, Rinse with luke warm water. Repeat once a week.

Raspberry Yogurt Honey Mask

This mask is ideal for dry or dehydrated skin. Raspberries act as an astringent, yogurt gives extra moisture and honey helps you keep that moisture locked in.

6 Raspberries

2 tbsp plain yogurt

1 tbsp raw honey

Mash the berries with a fork, once you have a puree add the yogurt and honey (warm it up first) Mix well.

Apply to clean skin and leave for 10 minutes or longer if your skin is not sensitive, rinse with luke warm water.

Important!! If you have very sensitive skin test it before applying. Do not use if you have rosacea!
