Lavender Essential Oil Uses

 

Lavender (lavandula angustifolia) is the most versatile of all essential oils.

Today, is the most used essential oil in the world. Ancient texts tell us that lavender essential oil has been used for medicinal and religious purposes for over 2,500 years, most commonly known for its relaxing effects, therapeutic-grade lavender has been highly regarded for the skin. It can be used to cleanse cuts, bruises, acne, skin irritations and more. The beautiful fragrance is so calming, relaxing and balancing that you will feel better instantly.

 

Sleep aid

Rub 2 or 3 drops of Lavender eo on your palms and smooth over your pillow or directly on the desired parts of your body like wrists, back of neck and temples

DIY recipe

15 drops lavender essential oil

10 drops roman chamomile essential oil

10 drops magnesium oil

this lovely combination of oils will significantly improve your sleep.

Anti Oxidant

Researchers from China have discovered that lavender essential oil helps your body produce three of your bodies most powerful antioxidants, glutathione, catalase, and SOD within 22 hours of using lavender essential oil!

Again you can rub it directly to your body or diffuse it.

Acne

Lavender oil has profound benefits on your skin because of its antimicrobial and antioxidant characteristics. Its ability to reduce stress and anxiety that are associated with acne breakouts in adults and its therapeutic properties that improve your quality of sleep, thereby promoting healthy and radiant skin.

Anxiety and Stress

Lavender has been proven effective as a natural remedy for treating signs of anxiety and doesn’t have any sedative effects unlike many prescriptions drugs.

If taking a bath is your way to relax add 20 drops of the essential oil to the bath water and if you can some lavender flowers fresh or dry.

If you are using it topically place 5 drops on the palm of your hands and spread over temples, back of neck, feet soles and wrists. I also apply some oil on the bridge of nose and on the skin above upper lip so I can really enjoy the aroma of lavender.

Head Aches

To alleviate stress and reduce tension which are common causes of headaches.

Prepare a mix lavender and eucalyptus essential oils and apply topically on the temples, forehead and wrists  to ease the mind, add 5–10 drops of lavender oil to a warm-water bath,

Burns and Cuts

Lavender oil speeds the healing of burns, cuts, scrapes and wounds because of it’s anti-microbial properties preventing bacterial and fungal infections.

For cuts: place a drop or two of lavender oil directly on the cut and re apply every few hours, as needed….
For Burns: When it is a minor burn, you can use lavender oil safely and naturally to treat it. Not only will lavender help fight infections, lessen blistering and scarring, and promote healing, it will also help relax you….

For larger burns, pour lavender essential oil onto a gauze and apply to the burn every few hours. But you can make this incredible Lavender Salve and keep it in your first aid cabinet you will LOVE IT!!

Ingredients

20 drops Lavender essential oil

1 tablespoon Beeswax, grated

1 capsule Vitamin E

1/4 cup Shea Butter

1 tablespoon Virgin Coconut oil

Directions

In a double boiler place the coconut oil, bees wax and shea butter, melt the ingredients warming slowly over low heat. Once the job is done remove from heat and add the vitamin E and Lavender essential oil. Pour into a glass jar or bottle (dark if possible) let it cool down and store in a dry dark place.

 

Aromatherapy

The aromatic properties of Lavender essential oil stimulate our sense of smell and positively affect our bodies, moods and minds simply through inhalation. It may be inhaled directly from the bottle, your hands, wrists, back of neck, bath or diffused in your living space.
